Dispute at Race Course Hotel in Coimbatore: BJP youth wing functionary arrested for assaulting BJP minority cell functionary and his son

Police have arrested Rainbow Ramesh, working as a bouncer in Poppy’s Hotel in Race Course and is BJP youth wing functionary, for assaulting Johnson, the BJP’s Minority Wing president in Coimbatore, and his son at a hotel in Race Course area.

Coimbatore: Johnson is the head of the minorities wing of the Coimbatore district BJP. On September 10, he, along with his son David, had gone to the Poppys Star Hotel in Race Course area at 10:30 pm.

The duo had gone to pre-book the venue for their son's birthday party and paid a fee of Rs 2,500. Following this, they insisted on seeing the party hall.

However, the hotel staff have said that they cannot be allowed as there is already a dance show (Couples Night) in which only couples are participating in the venue. This led to an argument between the two sides. Johnson and his son David were attacked by bouncers guarding the hotel.

In this case, David's tooth broke as the two sides got into a fight. A diamond ring worth Rs 3 lakh that he was wearing has also reportedly gone missing.

A case has been registered against both the parties in connection with the incident. Hotel accountant Vishnu Bharathi, bouncers Rainbow Ramesh, Billa Ramesh, Sudarshan and Mohammed Afridi were booked under five sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for allegedly assaulting Johnson and David.

Rainbow Ramesh, who was wanted in the case, was arrested by the police yesterday. He has been the secretary of BJP youth wing in Coimbatore district.

The police produced him before the court and sent him to jail following the judge's order.
