Khaja Hussain (23), who was selling painkillers for intoxication in Pullukadu housing unit area has been arrested.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City police is taking various measuresbased on the orders of the Tamil Nadu government to curb the movement of drugs. In particular, a special team has been formed to patrol and arrest those indulging in anti-social activities.
Yesterday, the police received a tip-off that drugs were being sold in the Pullukadu housing unit area. Based on this, Big Bazaar street police rushed to the spot and conducted a raid.
During the raid, police arrested a 23-year-old youth, Identified as Khaja Hussain, for selling drugs illegally. A case has been registered against the arrested youth under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Also, painkillers were seized from him.
City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan has warned that strict action will be taken against the gangs selling tablets, including painkillers, for drugs and those supplying the tablets.
