A free medical camp for cattle in Coimbatore - Kaalnadaigalai Thedi

As many as 240 special medical camps for cattle will be conducted across Coimbatore district. The first camp was held at Chennappa Chetty Pudur under Paduvampalli panchayat today by integrating the surrounding villages.


Coimbatore: A special animal health and awareness camp organized by the Animal Husbandry Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu was held at M Rayarpalayam and Chennappa Chetty Pudur villages under Paduvampalli panchayat of Sulur taluk of Coimbatore district yesterday.

This special veterinary health and awareness camp was inaugurated by Regional Joint Director Dr Perumal Samy yesterday.



Blood and milk samples of cattle in the vicinity of the camp were taken. Based on the test results of these samples, appropriate follow-up treatment for germs caused by the disease in the cattle will continue to be provided by the veterinary doctor here, it said.



It is to be noted that in this camp, the cattle were screened with a high-tech CT scanner to conduct pregnancy tests. Artificial insemination in cattle, infertility removal, impotence, deworming, gonorrhea, vaccination, immunization of chickens and other diseases were treated.

The farmers were briefed in detail on diseases like measles, bird flu, swine flu and the precautionary measures to be taken in the farm for the same.



Advisories were given to the farmers on the cultivation of fodder crops, scarcity of minerals in cattle, dietary restriction in livestock, etc.

In this camp, pharmaceutical companies set up stalls and displayed them to the farmers and the farmers were clearly explained about the method of providing medicines to the cattle.

One egg a day; Eggs were celebrated daily in this camp with a pledge not to take the nutritional pill and eggs were distributed to the general public and school children.



A large number of farmers and cattle rearers benefited from the camp by getting appropriate treatment for their livestock.

The camp was presided over by Paduvampally panchayat president Saravanan, Deputy Director (In-charge) Fodder Development and Animal Husbandry Dr. Thamizh Kumaran, Animal Husbandry Department Assistant Director Dr. Elango, Assistant Director Veterinary Disease Intelligence Unit Dr. Geetha and Paduvampally Veterinary Assistant Doctors Saravanan, Dr Satheesh, Dr Kaliyappan, veterinary inspectors Meenakshi Sundaram, Thamizharasi and animal husbandry assistants Tamilselvan, Sivasamy and Chandrasekhar participated in the treatment.

Kaushika River Organisation coordinator Selvaraj and Kausika River Development Society farmers' wing secretary Balakrishnan were also present on the occasion.
