In a tragic incident, three boys - Saswanth (8), Akhilan (10) and Sanjeev (7) - drowned in the pond after trying to bath after school.
Coimbatore: Saswanth (8), Akhilan (10) and Sanjeev (7), all residents of Mathiazhagan nagar near Sulur in Coimbatore district, were studying in a school in the area.
Usually after school, they used to play on the banks of the Chinnakulam in Sulur. Similarly, this evening the trio were playing on the banks of the pond.

Suddenly, when they tried to take a bath in the pond, the three of them fell into the pond and started screaming. At that time, an auto rickshaw driver in the area saw the boys and he immediately informed the fire station who rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the boys.
By the time the auto driver could leave, the three boys drowned in the pond. The fire brigade rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the three and sent them to Sulur government hospital.
Doctors who examined the students said the three boys had already died. Sulur police, who reached the spot, recovered the bodies of the three and sent them to ESI Hospital in Coimbatore for autopsy.
