Tea estate garden employees were shocked to see a 10-ft.-long python in a Kotagiri estate area. Forest officials rushed to the spot on information and rescued the python to relocate it to the forest area.
The Nilgiris: Even as elephant and leopard movement has been on the rise in tea estate areas around Kotagiri, workers have been in constant fear. The latest sighting has been a 10-ft. python lying in a tea garden adjacent to the settlements in Peragani Nedukula village of Bikkapathi division under the Kattabettu forest range, near Kotagiri.
Shocked by this, the tea estate workers immediately informed the Forest Department. On the orders of Forest Ranger Selvakumar, forest guard Kuttan, forest guard Rajesh and other forest officials rushed to the spot.
The 10-ft.-long python lying in the tea garden was then caught and taken to a dense forest and safely disposed of.
