Three arrested for coming to Annur to buy ganja to sell at Tamil Nadu-Kerala border; 12 kg ganja seized

Acting on a tip-off that some people were coming to Annur area to buy ganja, two persons were arrested and 12 kg of ganja, a tourist van and a two-wheeler were seized.


Coimbatore: Police have formed a special squad to check the sale and smuggling of ganja across coimbatore district.

The Annur police received a tip-off that ganja was being sold in the surrounding areas including Mangarai on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border and some people were coming to Annur to buy ganja from another place.

Following this, the police conducted intensive searches at Annur bus stand, Mettupalayam road and other areas. At that time, a tourist van was parked for a long time in J J Nagar area of Mettupalayam road. Suspecting this, the police reached the spot and nabbed three people and interrogated them.

It appears that they gave contradictory answers back and forth. On checking the van, the police found that the bag contained kilograms of ganja.

One of those arrested is Satish Kumar (34), a native of Kerala, who works as a gardener. It was revealed that he was involved in the sale of ganja on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.

It was also revealed that he had ganja cases against him in Kerala and Thadagam police stations. It was also found that he had come to Annur along with Nallasamy, a native of Madurai district, to buy ganja in kilos.

The police also arrested Suresh Kumar (33), a native of Thadagam, who was driving the van.



Police seized 12 kg of ganja, a tourist van and a two-wheeler from them.

The three were later produced in court and sent to jail.
