Last 5 months: 7,382 flight movements recorded in Coimbatore Airport

As many as 7,382 flight movements have been recorded from Coimbatore airport in the five months from April to August, which is two times more than last year.


Coimbatore: The International Airport in Coimbatore is benefiting people from seven surrounding districts, including Coimbatore district. Flights were banned from operating during the Corona period.

Now, with the relaxations being implemented, air traffic has slowly started recovering in the last few months. Due to this, 24 flights are operated daily now.

Apart from this, several flights, including private flights which are not scheduled and those belonging to the armed forces, are operated from Coimbatore airport.

Between April and August 2021-22, only 3,258 flight movements were recorded – 3,127 in the domestic transport category and 131 in the international category.

Between April and August 2022-23, 7,382 flight movements were recorded, including 6,862 in the domestic transport category and 520 in the international category.

As many as 874 flights were operated in August 2021 and 1,460 flights were operated in August 2022.

According to Coimbatore Airport officials, there has been a steady growth in air traffic not only in Coimbatore but also at all airports across the country.

The number of flights and passengers is also expected to increase manifold in the coming months as the festive season is coming up in the coming months like Diwali, Christmas and New Year.
