Case filed under 4 sections against 6 men for assaulting college student near city's Saravanampatti area

The first-year college student, Vikram had allegedly questioned Irayanbu, one of the six men on a wrong message sent on WhatsApp, after which he was assaulted by Irayanabu and his friends.


The Coimbatore City Police have registered a case against six persons for assaulting a college student who had questioned them on a wrong message sent on WhatsApp. The incident occurred near Saravanampatti in Coimbatore.

Ganesan who hails from Kamban Street near Vinayagapuram near Saravanampatti has a 19-year old son Vikram who is a first-year B.Sc. student from a private college in Coimbatore.

Irayanbu, a resident of Murugan Nagar allegedly sent him a wrong message on WhatsApp and when Vikram enquired with Irayanbu about this, Irayanbu and his friends reportedly attacked Vikram over the WhatsApp conversation.

Vikram, who was seriously injured in the incident, has been admitted to a private hospital in Coimbatore for treatment. Further, a complaint was lodged at the Saravanampatti police station in this regard.

On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case under four sections against Kali and Irayanbu and his friends Guddu alias Hrithik, Chettu, Shrudip and Karthik for attacking Vikram. The police are on the lookout for the six persons who are absconding.
