The construction of a world-class statue of Thiruvalluvar, jallikattu bull, traditional cultural paintings, statues, installation of coloured lights and footpaths to depict tamil culture are being taken up.
Coimbatore: Various works are in progress at an estimated cost of Rs.52.16 crore under the Smart City Project at Kurichikulam in South Zone. As part of this, the construction of a world-class statue of Thiruvalluvar, jallikattu bull, traditional cultural paintings, statues, installation of coloured lights and footpaths to depict tamil culture are being taken up.

Corporation Commissioner M. Prathap today inspected and inspected the smart city projects being carried out at Kurichi tank. He directed the engineers to prepare models for the installation of statues and heritage monuments and install them with proper approval and installation, and to complete the works in a quality and expeditious manner and put them to use.

Subsequently, he visited the unused micro compost centre at Pothanur area under ward no.100 of south zone and later inspected the desilting work in Ganeshapuram Mettur canal at an estimated cost of Rs.8.2 lakhs for a distance of 2.2 km and instructed the engineers to expedite the works and put them to use.

Earlier, the Corporation Commissioner personally inspected the construction work of anganwadi centre at Ganeshapuram area and directed the engineers to complete the construction work at the earliest and put it to use.
Executive Engineer Murugesh, South Zone President R. Dhanalakshmi, Ruling Party Leader Karthikeyan, Councillors Aslam Pasha and Gunasekaran, Assistant Commissioner T. Annadurai, Assistant Executive Engineer Karuppasamy, Assistant Town Planning Officer Sathya, Assistant Engineers Sabareesan, Saravanakumar, Sathish Kumar and corporation officials were present during the inspection.
