Inebriated man pelts stones at Govt. bus near GKNM Hospital in Coimbatore

The man reportedly pelted stones at a Government air-conditioned bus plying from Coimbatore to Salem on Monday night. Police investigation revealed that the man was inebriated, and he was later released after his kin rushed to the spot and agreed to pay for the damages caused to the bus.


Coimbatore: A state-run air-conditioned bus carrying passengers from Coimbatore to Salem was nearing GKNM Hospital in Coimbatore on Monday night when an unidentified person pelted stones at the bus.

The passengers in the bus panicked when the windshield of the bus broke. The Race Course police station was informed immediately about the incident following which the police rushed to the spot, nabbed the man and conducted a detailed investigation into the stone-pelting incident. The police identified the miscreant as Dinesh and confirmed that he was in an inebriated state.

Dinesh's family was then informed and he was later released after his family rushed to the spot and agreed to bear the cost for repair of the windshield of the bus.
