9 goons arrested in 'lightning hunt' by city police on orders from District SP

On the orders of the District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan, Coimbatore City Police launched an intensive search operation to nab goons and those indulging in rowdyism, and took action against 88 goons. 9 of the goons were arrested and produced in Court, and then sent to jail.


Coimbatore: In a bid to curb rowdyism in Coimbatore district, the District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan ordered immediate arrests of goons disrupting peace in the city.

Based on the order, for the last two days, the police in Coimbatore district launched a massive search operation against goons and anyone involved in rowdyism. The police took immediate action against 88 goons. 9 of the goons were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

Further, in order to control the activities of the 62 goons involved in rowdyism, a probation bond has been obtained against them and is being monitored. Police said arrest warrants have been issued against 17 goons.

Speaking to reporters, the District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan said, "We are constantly keeping a close watch on people indulging in rowdyism in Coimbatore district. This "lightning hunt" on rowdies will continue. Also, the public should not hesitate to inform us about such rowdies in Coimbatore district.
