Coimbatore: Students of the Traditional Arts Training School at Ashokapuram near Thudiyalur met the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran and submitted a petition demanding incentives to participate in more tournaments and win laurels.
The training school for traditional arts at Ashokapuram near Thudiyalur imparts training on various martial arts like Silambam, Karate and Kickboxing. At this training school, martial arts is taught to many people from the age group of 11 to 20 years. Students in this school have participated in district, state, national and international competitions and won medals. Students from this training school opine that they are unable to participate more and win laurels due to poverty.

The students' coach Anand Kumar said, "These students have participated in various competitions like Silambam, Karate and Archery and have won awards at the national level. They have come to submit a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector seeking incentives to continue training."
