Police arrested three persons for printing and circulating fake Rs 2,000 notes near Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore

Kalimuthu of Virudhunagar, Vijayakumar and Mohanraj of Namakkal were arrested for printing fake Rs 2,000 notes in Press Colony area next to Periyanayakanpalayam and seized two temple kalasams, laptops and four mobile phones from their possession.


Coimbatore: The policereceived a tip-off that suspicious persons are staying in the Press Colony residential area near Periyanaickenpalayam. Based on this, the police reached the spot and conducted a raid at the house.



During the raid, it was found that a bundle of Rs 2,000 notes was stacked in a cardboard box. Kalimuthu of Virudhunagar, Vijayakumar and Mohanraj of Namakkal were arrested from the house after it was found that all the notes were fake.



The police also seized fake Rs 2,000 notes and two temple kalasams, a laptop and four cell phones from nine cardboard boxes from their possession. The police are on the lookout for one Jadagopal in this connection.

Preliminary investigation revealed that they belonged to a gang of fraudsters claiming to market iridium. During further investigation, it was revealed that Mohanraj, who was arrested, had duped Ravichandran and his relatives of Namakkal district of Rs 2 crore on the pretext of doubling the money.

Based on a complaint lodged by Ravichandran and his relative, the police have registered a case and are investigating whether anyone else has been affected by them.
