The Tirupur Revenue Divisional Officer handed over Rs. 2 lakh each to the families of the three children who died after having dinner at the Sri Vivekananda Sevalayam Children's Home.
Tirupur: As many as 14 children took ill after their dinner at the Sri Vivekananda Sevalayam, a children's home in Thirumuruganpoondi area of Tirupur. While three of the children died, 11 are undergoing treatment at the Tirupur Government Hospital.
The Tamil Nadu Government has ordered the closure of the orphanage after the children's health deteriorated due to the carelessness and complacency of the management. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund to the next of kin of the three deceased children— Aadheesh (11), Madhesh (14) and Babu (10).
The Tirupur Revenue Divisional Officer, Pandhari Nathan handed over a cheque of Rs. 2 lakh to Aadhees's mother Poongodi at the Government Medical College Hospital on Friday evening.
