Commissioner M. Prathap, who inspected Uppilipalayam area today, instructed the the sanitation workers to create awareness among the public to segregate the waste at source.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Municipal Commissioner M. Sudhakaran has been apprised of the ongoing works being carried out by the Corporation in various areas under the corporation limits. Pratap personally inspected and directed the officials to complete the works at the earliest.
He inspected the work of segregation and collection of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste by the sanitation workers in Uppilipalayam Co-operative Town under Ward No. 60 of Coimbatore Corporation's East Zone.

Following this, he instructed the sanitation workers to create awareness among the people of the area to classify the garbage as decomposing waste and segregate it.

Later, he personally inspected the ongoing work to prevent the production of dengue mosquitoes by using oil balls in the storm water drains in the area and enquired about the water supply to the public.

Subsequently, he directed the engineers to personally inspect the newly constructed laboratory at an estimated cost of Rs.22 lakhs in the urban primary health centre premises at Uppilipalayam Co-operative Nagar and complete the construction work in a quality and expeditious manner and put it to use.
East zone assistant commissioner Muthuramalingam, Assistant executive engineer Sundararajan, health officer Murugan and other corporation officials were present during the inspection.
