Police took action against the man after the school girl revealed through an awareness programme held at a school near Pollachi that she had been harassed by the man.
Coimbatore:A man has been arrested under the POCSO Act after a year and a half for the crime of sexually harassing a 13-year-old girl near Pollachi.
The District Police Department is taking various steps to prevent sexual offences against children throughout Coimbatore district.As a part of this, various awareness programmes are also being conducted by the police in schools, in Pollachi.
Through one such awareness program in a school, a 13-year-old girl from Pollachi informed the school alleging that she was sexually harassed by a man, a year-and-a half ago. The teachers informed the girl's parents about the complaint.
The girl's parents lodged a complaint at the All Women police station on the basis of their daughter's information. Following this, the police found that Balakrishnan (43), the owner of the estate where the girl's mother worked had sexually harassed the minor girl about a year-and-a-half ago.
Following this, the women's police arrested Balakrishnan for sexually harassing the minor girl and booked him under the POCSO Act and sent him to jail.
