A speeding lorry driver on the Coimbatore-Pollachi Road lost control and rammed into Arumugam who was walking on the roadside. Police have registered a case against the lorry driver and are investigating.
Coimbatore: A speeding lorry driver on the Coimbatore-Pollachi Road lost control and rammed into a pedestrian, killing him instantly.
Arumugam (32), a resident of Kuzhikkadu Thottathu Road in Othakkalmandapam in Coimbatore is a labourer and was walking in the Mayilaripalayam section on the Coimbatore-Pollachi Road when the speeding lorry rammed into him unexpectedly. Arumugam who was seriously injured in the collision was rescued and taken to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment but doctors who examined him declared him brought dead.
Arumugam's wife Sivakami lodged a complaint with the Chettipalayam police station, following which Inspector Mathaiyan reached the spot and conducted an inquiry. A case has been registered against Gunasekaran (42), a lorry driver from Kambam in Theni district who was driving the speeding lorry that caused the accident.
