Residents of wards 6,7,8 and 16 of Palladam municipality staged a protest at the junction of Kosavampalayam road against the installation of a gas crematorium near the residential area.
Tirupur: More than 200 people of Pachapalayam near Palladam staged a protest against the installation of a gas crematorium in the middle of residential areas.
Action is being taken to set up a new modern gas crematorium at Pachapalayam Odai at an estimated cost of Rs.1.45 crore from the Kalaignar Urban Development Fund at Pachapalayam under 8th ward of Palladam Municipality.
The residents of 6th, 7th, 8th and 16th wards of Palladam municipality have been protesting against this move. More than 200 people protested at the junction of Kosavampalayam road, protesting against the installation of a gas crematorium near their residential area.
During the protest, they raised slogans demanding that the Tamil Nadu government take steps to set up a gas crematorium at an alternate site. There was a tense situation in the area for some time due to the public protest.
