As many as 35 special buses will be operated from Pollachi to Palani, Dindigul, Madurai, Trichy and Tirupur from September 30 to October 5.
Coimbatore: The Transport department has announced that more buses will be operated from pollachi bus stand due to the completion of quarterly examinations and continuous holidays like Ayudha Pooja.
Additional buses will be operated by the State Transport department from the central bus stand during the important festive seasons like Deepavali and Pongal, depending on the rush of passengers.
Since there were muhurtham days from time to time till two weeks ago this year, additional buses were operated to other places on Saturdays and Sundays. The number of passengers has been low for the last two weeks.
Meanwhile, the school quarterly exams will be completed on September 30 and the holiday will continue from October 1 to October 5. There are also gandhi jayanthi holidays on those days followed by saraswati puja on 4th and 5th.
Due to this, for the convenience of the outstation passengers, the September 30th will be allowed from Friday evening to the October 5th of this month. For 5 consecutive days, more buses will be operated to different areas than usual.
About 35 more special buses will be operated to Coimbatore, Palani, Dindigul, Madurai, Trichy, Tirupur, Karur, Erode, Trichy and Ooty.
Similarly, since many residents of Valparai are working in coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur and other places, steps have been taken to operate additional buses to Valparai from October 2 to 5 on the occasion of Saraswathi Puja.
According to state transport department officials, 190 buses ply daily from pollachi bus stand to various villages and far-flung areas.
Of these, more than 50 buses are operated to far-flung areas. Steps are being taken to operate additional buses to control the crowd on special days.
This year, the exams will be held in schools till September 30. Though it is a quarterly holiday from Oct. 1st to 5th, since saraswati puja festival is celebrated, most of the people go abroad with their families. Due to this, more special buses are being operated to the outstation areas as compared to last year.
Since this time it is Saraswati Puja and school holidays, steps have been taken to run 35 more buses. Officials said so.
Similarly, special buses will be operated from Coimbatore to tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Madurai, Salem, Ooty and other districts.
