Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a woman working as a nurse at Kuppusamy Naidu Hospital in Coimbatore was stabbed to death by her husband.

Nancy (32), a resident of Sivananda Colony in Coimbatore, was married to Vinod, a resident of the same locality, nine years ago. They have an 8-year-old daughter.

The two have been living separately for the last three years as Vinod, who was suspicious of his wife's behaviour, had been having issues with Nancy from time to time.

Meanwhile, Nancy is working as a nurse coordinator in the maternity ward of Kuppusamy Naidu Hospital in Pappanaickenpalayam area.

At this stage, Vinod suspected that his wife Nancy and another person were having an affair. This morning Nancy came to work in the hospital as usual but was followed by Vinod covertly with a knife.

He then went to the maternity ward where Nancy worked at around 3 pm and stabbed her with a large knife he was hiding. Nancy died on the spot in a pool of blood.

Vinod tried to flee from the spot when his co-workers rushed to the spot after hearing Nancy's screams due to the stabbing that took place in the blink of an eye. But by then, the hospital guards had caught hold of him.

He then tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself with the same knife that killed his wife. Hospital staff who admitted him to the emergency ward immediately informed the police about the incident.

The Race Course police rushed to the hospital and interrogated the colleagues present there with the help of forensic experts.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the husband had committed the murder as there was already a family dispute between the husband and the wife and the husband became suspicious of the wife.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters about the incident, the hospital's resident doctor Sundararajan said, Police have registered a case and are investigating after her husband stabbed Nancy with a knife due to a family dispute.

He also said that Vinod, who was involved in the murder, was being treated at their hospital and his condition was stable.
