Three people were stabbed to death in a clash between the two sides at a dhaba on Siruvani Road in Kuniyamuthur due to prior enmity. Kuniyamuthur police are on the lookout for the absconding culprits.
Coimbatore: Sasi (33), a native of Sundakkamuthur in Coimbatore. Employee of a private company. It is learnt that Poovendran, a native of Kuniyamuthur, threatened him and snatched his motorcycle and mobile phone.
He also demanded Rs 10,000 to return the stolen items. Sasi informed his friend Marimuthu (35), a water can supplier, about the incident. He took Rs 10,000 from him and gave it to Poovendran.
However, when Poovendran, who received the money, refused to hand over Sasi's motorcycle and mobile phone back, there was a previous enmity between them.
Marimuthu, along with his friends drivers Sekar (31) of Adi Sakthi Nagar in Kuniyamuthur and Sujith (33) of Thirunagar, were sitting at a dhaba on Siruvani Road in Kuniyamuthur and consuming liquor.
At that time, Poovendran came there along with three of his friends. Again, there was a clash between Marimuthu's side and Poovendran's side. Enraged over this, a group of four persons, including Poovendran, abused Marimuthu with inappropriate words and stabbed him with a knife.
He was stabbed in the head and shoulder. Shekhar and Sujith, who were with him, tried to stop the attack on him, who was in pain in a pool of blood. The gang then attacked Shekhar and Sujith.
The four then threatened them and fled from the spot. Marimuthu, Sekhar and Sujith were seriously injured in the attack. The three were later admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment.
A complaint in this regard was lodged at Kuniyamuthur police station. Based on the complaint, the police have registered an attempt to murder case against four persons, including Poovendran (34), and are on the lookout for them.
