Coimbatore: Dr. Vinu Aram of Shanthi Ashram, the Director of Shanti Ashram in Coimbatore received the Leadership Award in Public Health Practice at Harvard.
Speaking at the award event at Harvard, Dr. Vinu Aram expressed her delight in receiving the award in the presence of teachers she dearly respected, colleagues she valued and friends who enriched her world, which she considered truly special.
"I am grateful that my amazing brother Ashok Aram could be with me for he was the one who travelled to Boston and picked up the MPH application form for me - and sibling time is an equal blessing. I have all happy memories and picture credits go to my amazing brother Ashok, my gifted friend of three decades Luis Girón-Negrón and Srinivas G for they celebrated with me and indulged me in every way possible.
My sincere gratitude to Dean Williams, my mentor for 20 years, Roberta Gianfortoni, my dearest friend Tanya Kapka, the faculty, staff and alumni of Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health for making the two days so meaningful and the award, a reminder of the work ahead. It was a beautiful few days of reflection, celebrations and intellectual stimulation. I loved the downtime too filled with walks, conversations, friends, T-rides, coffees, yummy meals and some bright reps from gen next," opined an elated Dr. Vinu Aram.
"For all that we could do together for children during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, together with my dedicated teams at Shanti Ashram and the International Center for Child and Public Health, I hope the good work continues for children in India and around the world," reiterated Dr. Vinu Aram.
