Coimbatore: A court in Coimbatore has sentenced a man to four years rigorous imprisonment for raping an elderly woman at Pollachi in Coimbatore district and imposed a fine of Rs 500 on him.
Mytheen (20), a resident of Pollachi West police station limits in Coimbatore district, on 10.11.2020, he raped a 90-year-old woman living in the same locality.
A case was registered against Mytheen (20) by a police inspector at Pollachi west police station for the crime.
The trial in the case was going on at the Coimbatore Mahila Court in Coimbatore district. On 30.09.2022, Mahila Court Judge Nandini Devi sentenced Maitheen to four years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 500/- on him.
Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Badri Narayanan congratulated the investigating officers.
