Even as the trial in the 2017 Kodanad murder-cum-heist case has reached its final stage, the TN DGP, C Sylendra Babu has ordered the transfer of the investigation to the CB-CID.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Director General of Police, C Sylendra Babu has transferred the Kodanad murder-cum-heist case to the Crime Branch-CID, which is the elite investigation department of the State police.
After the death of former Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa on April 24, 2017, a watchman of her Kodanad estate was murdered. An investigation has been underway in connection with the case of theft of a large number of documents from the estate bungalow.
Five special squads were formed for this purpose, with each special cell interrogating several people. In the case, the main accused Sayan, Kodanad estate manager Natarajan, Samseer Ali, Manojsamy and prosecution witnesses, as well as Jayalalithaa's friend Sasikala and her cousin Vivek, former MLA Aarukutty and her relatives and AIADMK functionaries, industrialists and many others have been questioned.
DGP Sylendra Babu has now ordered the transfer of the case to the CB-CID, since the investigation in the case has reached its final stage. This is expected to further intensify the trial in the case.
