Woman ends life by suicide near Thudiyalur due to marital dispute

After one-and-a-half years of marriage, the reportedly depressed woman ended her life by suicide after a petty quarrel with her husband, and also reportedly due to frequent quarrels between the couple over the past year at not having a child.


Coimbatore: In a tragic incident, a woman who had been married for just a year-and-a-half committed suicide by hanging herself over a family dispute near Thudiyalur.

Seetha Lakshmi (27) is the wife of Sivakumar who hails from Subramaniampalayam near Thudiyalur in Coimbatore district. They had a love marriage, a year and a half ago but had frequent quarrels over not being able to have a child. Sivakumar who had gone to work on Friday had returned home to eat. Since Seetha Lakshmi had not cooked and was on her phone, Sivakumar reportedly questioned her after which a quarrel broke out between the two.

Following this, Sivakumar reportedly walked out of the house. Seetha Lakshmi, who was upset over the quarrel and previous disputes about not having a child, suddenly ended her life by hanging herself. Sivakumar who returned home after some time was shocked to find his wife had ended her life by suicide.

The Thudiyalur police were informed about the incident and the police reached the spot. Seetha Lakshmi's body was recovered and sent to Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

According to reports, the RTO is interrogating people in the area regarding the suicide of Seetha Lakshmi.
