South Indian Baniyan Manufacturers' Association office-bearer elections to be held after 25 years

The team seeking for change said a large number of industrialists in Tiruppur have left the industry as we are not satisfied with the performance of past executives and the elections are being held to revive the ailing hosiery industry.


Tirupur: It has been announced that the election for South Indian Banyan Producers Association executives will be held after 25 years.

South Indian Banyan Producers Association has been active in Tirupur for a long time. For the last 25 years, the administrators were selected on nomination basis for this association. This is an industry worth several thousand crores of rupees.

Elections were announced due to dissatisfaction with the performance of the existing administrators. Elections are to be held for President, Vice President, General Secretary, Treasurer posts, 2 Joint Secretary posts, 21 Executive Committee members. Viking Iswaran has been elected for the post of chairman only on nomination basis.



In this election Balachander, who can contest for the post of vice-president in the name of Team for Change, has filed his nomination. A nomination has been filed on behalf of the team for other positions led by Balachander.

The team met the media today in Tirupur. They said that they were not satisfied with the performance of the former administrators. Due to this many industrialists have left the industry in Tirupur. A demand was made to hold elections and elect administrators to revive the ailing knitwear industry.



While only the post of chairman has been selected on nomination basis, nominations have been filed on behalf of the team for the posts of vice-chairman, secretary and treasurer.

There are only 200 members in the association now which used to have a thousand members. 450 people have been added to the membership by meeting the industry after the petition. After winning the election, all efforts will be made to bring the demands of the industry to the attention of the government.
