The windshield of a car belonging to Harish (21), a resident of Nadar Colony in Kamaraj Nagar, Mettupalayam who is the city in-charge of Hindu Izhaignar Munnani was damaged. The police are investigating the matter.
Coimbatore: Amidst the tension prevailing in Coimbatore since last week, after bottles filled with petrol and kerosene were thrown at nine places across the city, police are presently investigating and arresting those involved in the crime.
But on Tuesday morning, it was found that stones had been hurled at the house of an office bearer of a Hindu organisation in Mettupalayam, breaking the windshield of a parked car in the compound.
The owner of the car has been identified as Harish (21), son of Velmurugan, a resident of Nadar Colony in Kamaraj Nagar, Mettupalayam. He is pursuing his post-graduation from a private college in Saravanampatti, Coimbatore and is also the city in-charge of the Hindu Izhaignar Munnani.
Miscreants reportedly broke the front windshield of the car parked outside his house late last night. The Mettupalayam police station was informed about the incident and based on the information, the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan reached the spot and conducted an inquiry with the victim and other Hindu Munnani functionaries.
The Mettupalayam Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police Balaji, Police Inspector Navaneethakrishnan, Sub-Inspectors Selvanayagam, Muruganathan and other police officials reached the spot and are on the lookout for the miscreants who broke the windowpane of the car.
Hindu Munnani's Coimbatore Divisional Secretary Rajkumar, Coimbatore North District Secretary Sathish Kumar, Vice-President Thangavelu, Dhanapal and Hindu Munnani functionaries rushed to the spot and urged the police to immediately arrest the miscreants who broke the car's windshield. They demanded that the police should curb such incidents of vandalism which disturbs the peace of the city.
