Coimbatore: In the wake of untoward incidents taking place in Coimbatore over the past two days, vehicle inspection has been intensified in Kinathukadavu areas.
For the past two days, vehicles of BJP and Hindu Munnani functionaries in Coimbatore city and the district's areas of Pollachi and Mettupalayam have been deployed. Incidents of miscreants throwing bottles filled with petrol and kerosene on offices have created a stir.
As many as 4,000 police personnel, including commandos, rapid action force and policemen from other districts, have been deployed across Coimbatore district.
As part of this, barricades have been erected on the Coimbatore Pollachi National Highway in Kinathukadavu Arasampalayam section. The armed police, led by Sub-Inspector Karuppusamy Pandian of Kinathukadavu police station, have stopped two-wheelers and four-wheelers and are conducting intensive vehicle checking.
They are also investigating if there are suspicious persons in the vehicles.
