The Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam cadres condemned teaching caste discrimination to students in the CBSE syllabus and showed their dissent by tearing the copy of the syllabus at the Coimbatore District Collectorate.

The protestors raised slogans condemning the Central Government's CBSE syllabus and subsequently, the police arrested 15 of the organizers who participated in the demonstration in front of the District Collectorate.

Speaking to the media, Ramakrishnan, General Secretary of TPDK, said, "CBSE schools are inciting casteism among students by classifying them as Brahmins and Shudras under the 'Varnashiram' system. Similarly, Dalits are branded for slaughtering and eating dead animals. The BJP State President Annamalai who is coming to Coimbatore should be the first to protest and remove this syllabus. Annamalai is instead protesting against DMK Raja's comments. We are demanding that the Central Government immediately remove the topic from the syllabus."
