Railway Police lauded for rescuing distraught passenger who falls off moving train

Sivakumar, a passenger who was supposed to get off at the Coimbatore railway station, woke up suddenly and in panic jumped off the train onto the platform just as it was leaving Coimbatore railway station. He was rescued by the Railway Police who were on security duty.


Coimbatore: Railway police on duty at the Coimbatore Railway station rescued a passenger who slipped and fell from train number 16528, plying from Kannur to Eswanthpur on Platform No. 3, at 11.15 pm on Thursday night. The CCTV footage of the passenger's rescue by the Railway Police has gone viral on social media.

Sivakumar, a native of Salem, was returning to Coimbatore from Kannur in Kerala by train. He was supposed to get down at the Coimbatore railway station but had reportedly fallen asleep. Suddenly he woke up when the train was just beginning to leave the Coimbatore station. He tried to jump off the moving train but in his hurry and anxiety, Sivakumar stumbled and fell on the track.

The Crime Branch Head Constables of the Railway Police, Ramesh and Marimuthu, and the Railway Protection Force Sub-inspector Arunjit were patrolling on duty at the railway station.



The lady Head Constable, Mini, saved Sivakumar who fell on the tracks, from a major untoward incident in the blink of an eye. Sivakumar was then rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital in a 108 ambulance for treatment.

Top officials have lauded the Coimbatore Railway Police for acting vigilantly and quickly rescuing Sivakumar.
