The Valparai Municipality President, Alagusundaravalli reopened the Botanical Garden in Valparai on Thursday for free public use. It has been a long-standing demand by the public to set up a Botanical Garden at Valparai in Coimbatore district.
Coimbatore: The Valparai district administration has announced that the Botanical Garden in Valparai which has been reopened for the second time can be used by the public free of cost, from Thursday onwards.
It has been a long-standing demand by the public to set up a Botanical Garden at Valparai in Coimbatore district. Hence, a site was chosen for the Botanical Garden by the previous ADMK regime. It was proposed to set up the garden on 4.2 acres of land which had been selected by the Public Works Department, at a cost of Rs.5 crores.
The park was opened before the completion of all the work. While the park open to the public for a few days, it was closed down due to a change in the Government and incompletion of the work in the park.

Now that the pending work has been completed, the Botanical Garden was reopened by the Valparai Municipality President, Alagusundaravalli.

The Valparai Municipal administration has informed the public that permission will be given to the public to use the garden, free of cost, from September 22. Municipal Commissioner Baalu, Municipality M E Venkatachalam and ward members in Valparai were also present on the occasion.
