Coimbatore: Traffic in the area was severely affected after a private bus got stuck in a ditch dug for laying a drinking water pipe on Tadagam Road near Idayarpalayam.
The work of laying drinking water pipes from Shivaji Colony to KNG Pudur in Coimbatore Thadagam Road is in full swing. For this, pits have been dug for laying pipelines at various places on the main state highway, Thadagam Road, and it looked like a pothole.
Gandhiadigal Matric Higher Secondary School is functioning near Edayarpalayam on this road. A pit was dug at the entrance of this school two days ago and drinking water pipes were installed.
In this case, there is no official notification regarding the excavation of the ditch and the work going on.
Unaware of this, a private bus that was coming that way unexpectedly got stuck in the ditch.
After that all the passengers in the bus have been safely dropped and the work of rescuing the bus with the help of a crane is going on intensively.
Due to the drinking water pipe laying works being carried out on Thadagam Road for the past 4 years, there was already a problem of dust and debris in the area, but now the roads are frequently potholed, causing serious inconvenience to the motorists and the public.
It is noteworthy that after the bus got stuck in the pit, the people of the area volunteered to divert the vehicle traffic on Thadagam Road.
