Coimbatore District BJP President Balaji Uthamaramasamy has been booked under IPC 153,504,505 by the Peelamedu police for violence inciting and threatening speech on MP A Raja at a meeting organised by a Hindu outfit. TPDK members filed a complaint on him on Sep 20.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore BJP District President Balaji Uthamaramasamy has been arrested by the Peelamedu Police for threatening and violence inciting speech on ARaja, DMK's Nilgiri Member of Parliament.
At a meeting organised by a Hindu outfit,the BJP President passed threatening comments on A. Raja, challenging him to step in Coimbatore without policeprotection. The video which was widely shared in social media drew widespread criticism.
In this case, a complaint was lodged with the Peelamedu Police last night on behalf of Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam urging legal action be initiated against the BJP district president for his speech.
Based on the complaint, the Peelamedu police summoned the BJP district presidentfor investigation. Later, he was arrested.
He has been booked under IPC 153,504,505 under three sections - inciting riot, intentionally insulting a person and spreading defamation.
Following his arrest, BJP functionaries and cadres have gathered in large numbers in front of Peelamedu Police station.
