A total of 1,304 narcotic pills in three types of narcotic pill cards were seized from them.
Coimbatore: The police have arrested four people, including a boy and two college students who were selling narcotic pills near Rathinapuri in Tatabad, Coimbatore.
The police received information that narcotic pills were being sold on 9th road of Tatabad, in Rathinapuri, Coimbatore. Based on this information, the Rathinapuri police conducted a surprise raid in the area. On seeing the police, some of the youth in the area involved in the illegal sale of narcotic pills tried to escape. The police surrounded four persons and nabbed them. During the investigation, it was found that the four persons were found in possession of intoxicating pills.
The four were identified as Vivek Bharti (18), a college student from Rathinapuri area who was in possession of drug pills, Dhanapalan (19) who is orignally from Theni district but studying in Coimbatore, Karikalan (49), a drug shop owner who supplies drugs to college students and a 16-year-old boy. The police arrested them and a total of 1,304 narcotic pills in 3 types of narcotic pill cards were seized from them. On further investigation, it has been discovered that there was a huge drug racket among college students in Coimbatore.
Also, Karikalan who runs a drug store in Singanallur has been selling abortion pills and pain relievers for drug addiction, with a pack of 10 pills being sold for Rs.1000. It was also discovered that students who bought these drugs, used them on college campuses and in classrooms. The investigation also revealed that people who needed drugs were called to a specific place and were sold pills there.
