Coimbatore: The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ravichandran inaugurated a Cycle Club initiated by a private college in Coimbatore to facilitate medical students to use bicycles to go out and serve in villages in Coimbatore District.
The Bicycle Club was inaugurated in the college campus of the N G Institute of Paramedical Sciences in Othakkal Mandapam area of Coimbatore to facilitate medical students to go on bicycles and serve the villages. The inauguration ceremony of the Bicycle Club and the Anti-drug Awareness program about drug eradication was held on Sunday. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ravichandran presided over the event and flagged off the bicycle rally of medical students. This was followed by an awareness program on drug eradication.

Speaking at the drug awareness program, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ravichandran stated that the increased cases of drug addiction among students was a painful thing. "Drugs are a major contributor to social degradation. Students should be careful to avoid this. If you find any drug user, contact the Police Control Room at 9498181212 and also the name of the caller will be kept confidential. To create a better society, students can focus on sports, cycling and community service which will keep the body and mind healthy during their study period," emphasised Ravichandran.
The program was attended by the Coaching Department Manager of Indian Railways, Arun, College Administrative Officers, Coach of Tamil Nadu Cycle Club Association and others.
