With the increasing number of night-time cow thefts in Neelambur area, the police are investigating the CCTV footage of the mysterious person attempting to steal the cow in the middle of the night.
Coimbatore: The CCTV footage of a mysterious person stealing a cow from a lawyer's house in the middle of the night in Neelambur area has been released.
Selvakumar, a lawyer, hails from Neelambur and has been rearing cows in his farm for the past five years. On Wednesday night when he heard his dogs barking, Selvakumar came out of his house only to find that the cow tied in the cowshed had disappeared.
Later, on checking the footage of the CCTV camera installed outside his house, Selvakumar saw a mysterious person untying the cow and taking it away. Shocked at the footage, Selvakumar went closer to the cowshed and peered into the darkness and found the cow there. After tying the cow back in the cowshed, he informed Sulur police station about the attempt at stealing his cow.
After the police went to the spot and checked the CCTV footage to identify the mysterious thief, various areas in the neighbourhood including the truck stop were searched. Selvakumar explained to the police that in the past, there had been two similar attempts to steal cows and the miscreants had been nabbed and handed over to the police station with the help of local people.
