Robbery attempt to break into ATM at Karamadai in Coimbatore; thief escapes as alarm goes off

The police are investigating based on CCTV footage of an unidentified person who tried to break open the ATM machine of a private bank and rob it at Teachers Colony in Karamadai.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, an unidentified person tried to break into an ATM machine near Karamadai near Mettupalayam and tried to steal it and escaped after an alarm sounded.

Hundreds of families live in Karamadai Teachers Colony near Mettupalayam. There are many shops around these apartments.

An ATM centre of a private bank branch functioning at Mettupalayam is functioning in the area. The ATM centre was widely used by the people of the area. So there will always be more cash in that ATM. An unidentified person came to the ATM early this morning.

Knowing that there was no movement of people, the unidentified person broke the ATM machine with the weapon he was hiding. As a result, the alarm mounted on the machine sounded. Hearing the alarm, the neighbours rushed to the spot. The man, who saw the public coming, escaped from the spot.

Based on a complaint about the robbery attempt on the basis of a text message to the bank manager, the Karamadai police reached the spot and examined the CCTV footage. The incident, which took place in a densely populated area, has created a sensation in the area.
