Devi, who was engaged in cleaning work in a residential area near Uppilipalayam was found dead in a water tank. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
Coimbatore: The corpse of a female sanitary worker which was found in a water tank in a private apartment near Uppilipalayam has been recovered.
Devi (27), a widow, hailed from Rathinapuri in Coimbatore. After her husband Moorthy died, Devi had been working as a labourer in the area. Devi, along with her older sister Sathiya (33) was carrying out cleaning work in a private residential area in Uppilipalayam area on Tuesday.
Devi, who was on duty at around 5.30 pm, reportedly went missing. Sathiya searched for Devi all over the area nad around 7.30 pm reportedly found Devi dead inside a water tank in the area.
Following this, locals in the area informed the Fire Department and the police. Based on the information, the firemen reached the spot and recovered Devi's body from the water tank. The Singanallur police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
