'Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts to experience heavy rainfall in the next few days:' Chennai Meteorological Centre

Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from September 15 to 17.


Coimbatore: The Chennai Meteorological Centre has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in five districts, including the Nilgiris and Coimbatore due to the variation in the Westerly winds.

According to a statement issued by the Chennai Meteorological Centre, due to the variation in the speed of the Westerly winds, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni and Dindigul districts.

There is also a possibility of heavy rains at a few places. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from September 15 to 17. As far as Chennai is concerned, the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy for the next 48 hours and there is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms in some parts of the city.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has advised fishermen not to venture into the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining South Tamil Nadu coasts, Andhra Pradesh coasts and the adjoining central Bay of Bengal due to wind speed of upto 65 kmph gusting to 65 kmph.
