It has been announced that the vaccination camp will be held on September 25 and 28 in Coimbatore North Zone and on September 30 and October 2 in West Zone.
Coimbatore: To mark World Rabies Day which will be observed on September 28, a Rabies Vaccination Camp is being held in Coimbatore from September 25 till October 2.
September 28 is the death anniversary of Louie Foster who discovered a vaccine for rabies. To commemorate his life, since 2007, all the countries in the world have observed September 28 as 'World Rabies Day.' On this day, awareness campaigns and rabies vaccination of stray dogs are conducted to increase awareness on prevention and control of rabies.
A free Rabies Vaccination Camp will be conducted for domestic dogs and stray dogs that are fed by the public in areas under the Coimbatore Corporation. Humane Animal Society, a charitable organization employed by the Coimbatore Corporation will administer free rabies vaccination to stray dogs and domestic dogs on September 25 and 28 in the North Zone of Coimbatore and on September 30 and October 2 in the West Zone of the city.
Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner, M Prathap stated that a free Rabies Vaccination Camp will be held at Seeranaickenpalayam sterilization center for domesticated dogs. "For related information, 93661 27215, 97915 32266, 98437 89491 can be contacted," he added.
It is noteworthy that awareness campaigns are being carried out worldwide towards the goal that by the year 2030, not a single person should die from a rabid dog bite.
