Three of the four college students returning home after celebrating Onam at a private club near Thondamuthur in Coimbatore were killed in the tragic accident which occurred early Friday morning.
Coimbatore: Three youth lost their lives tragically when the car in which they were travelling back home after celebrating Onam at a club near Thondamuthur in Coimbatore lost control and plunged into a well.
It is reported that when they were nearing Thennamanallur between Poluvampatti and Thondamuthur, the car lost control and crashed through the gate of a garden and plunged into the well. Of the four youth travelling in the car, one escaped while the remaining three lost their lives.
Firefighters are in the process of recovering the bodies of the deceased.
Roshan (18), a native of Vadavalli in Coimbatore had gone to celebrate Onam with his friends Aadesh, Ravi and Nandanan from Vadavalli in his relative's car at a private club named Celebrity on Siruvani Road in Coimbatore. The four youth stayed over at the club on Thursday night.
The four young men left the Club at around 6 am on Friday morning and as their car neared Thennamanallur between Poluvampatti and Thondamuthur, the speeding car crashed through the iron gate of a land owned by Palaniswami in the area and fell into a 120-ft.-deep well.
Since the well had more than 50 ft. of water, the men were drowning but Roshan who was driving the car, opened the door of the car and managed to climb up to the top of the well. But his friends reportedly drowned in the water.
Based on the information provided by Roshan, the Police and Fire Department officials rushed to the spot to try and recover the bodies of the deceased, as well as the car.
Since the well had over 50 ft. water, the rescue team with the help of villagers in the area are engaged in pumping the water out of the well.
The Thondamuthur Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The tragic accident of the youth has caused immense grief among families and locals.
