Coimbatore: Even as September 5 was celebrated as National Teachers' Day across the country, teachers were widely recognised everywhere.
The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis celebrated the 4th edition of the 'Nation Builders Awards' on National Teachers Day to honour the dedicated service of five teachers from Government schools and honouring them as Nation Builders.
The Nation Builders Awards event was held on September 5 at the Corporation Higher Secondary School in Siddhapudur. The teachers felicitated were:
1. R. Sakuntala - Corporation High School, K K Pudur
2. S Mary Jayakumari - Sri Sarada Vidhyalayam -Aided Primary School, Sundarapuram
3. T Gowri Nayaki, Government High School, Kanuvai
4. N Valarmathi, Government High School, Kaadampadi
5. K Padmavathi, Corporation Hr. Sec. School, Siddhapudur

The Chief Guest of the program, DGND Rtn. Sundaravadivelu graced the Nation Builders Award event and spoke on the power of 'Gurus' in Indian lives. He also quoted a few lines of Dr. Servapalli Radhakrishnan about the importance of teachers in a growing child's life.
The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis President Rtn. Shanthi Suresh, Secretary Rtn. Vasanthi Ranganath, Assistant Governor Rtn. Sanjay Shah and Project Coordinator Rtn. AVM Vijayakumar also felicitated the teachers.
200 students and teachers from Corporation Higher Secondary School, Siddhapudur, many Rotarians and families participated in the event.
