Coimbatore: Wild elephants are known to emerge from Coimbatore's Marudhamalai forest often, and enter into nearby human settlements in search of food and water.
A lone wild elephant emerged from the forest cover on Tuesday night and entered the Bharathiar University campus in search of food. The elephant reportedly ate the flour and rice stored in the guard room at the University gate.
The University residents immediately informed the Forest Department. Officials arrived at the Bharathiar University campus and chased the elephant back into the forest by making some loud noise.
