Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeram inaugurated an awareness rally titled 'Namma Ooru Superu' organised jointly by Magalir Suya Udhavi Kuzhu and the Panchayat Level Federation at Keeranatham Panchayat Union Middle School in Coimbatore Sarkar Samakulam Panchayat Union.
The students and teachers of Keeranatham Panchayat Union Middle School took an awareness pledge on Namma Ooru Superu, led by the District Collector.
Various works are being carried out in all the 228 Village Panchayats of Coimbatore District till October 2, under the 'Namma Ooru Superu' scheme.
The scheme aims to carry out sanitation works in public places and institutions, provide drinking water, and also carry out sanitation and waste management works in schools and colleges, create awareness on waste management in homes through Magalir Suya Uthavi Kulzhu, enforce plastic bans and revive manjappai awareness.
