Coimbatore: The 151st birth anniversary of V O Chidambaranar, a renowned Indian freedom fighter and former leader of the Indian National Congress, better known as Kappalottiya Thamizhan and Sekiluttha Semmal is being commemorated across Tamil Nadu on September 5.
In view of this, public and political parties organized celebrations in various places in Tamil Nadu and paid homage to him by garlanding his portraits in schools and colleges. Also, essay and debate competitions were held in schools.
As part of these celebrations, the Kongunadu People's National Party functionaries paid homage to Chidambaranar's statue at the Coimbatore Central Jail.
