AIADMK legislators in Coimbatore petition Dist.Collector on various issues concerning DMK

The AIADMK MLA from Coimbatore North, Amman K Arjunan, Kinathukadavu MLA Dhamodharan, Valparai AIADMK MLA Amul Kandasamy and Sulur AIADMK MLA Kandasamy announced that they were boycotting Government functions in Coimbatore district.



Coimbatore: In a petition submitted to the Coimbatore District Collector, AIADMK MLAs in Coimbatore district stated that while DMK functionaries were conducting and attending Government functions, the AIADMK was being ignored and not invited to any of the functions.



The AIADMK MLA from Coimbatore North, Amman K Arjunan, Kinathukadavu MLA Dhamodharan, Valparai AIADMK MLA Amul Kandasamy and Sulur AIADMK MLA Kandasamy announced that they were boycotting Government functions in Coimbatore district.



"The DMK has also put up posters at various places in violation of the Corporation administration's instructions. If it is not removed, we will stick posters too. Doubts are being raised as to whether dictatorial rule was taking place in Coimbatore. We seek appropriate action in this regard," demanded Amman K Arjunan.

Speaking to reporters later, Amman K Arjunan said, "The Government does not invite us to project functions. The names of legislators are on the District administration's invitations to the Government functions held here but they don't call us. For example, while poojas were performed for the construction of a mandapam in the Marudhamalai temple, the Member of the Legislative Assembly and area Ward Councillor (AIADMK) was not called. The event was organized by the DMK area secretary. Similarly, in Kinathukadavu constituency, Kinathukadavu MLAs are invited only in a few schools for the function of distributing bicycles to school students. Some schools conduct programmes without us being invited. The DMK Union Secretary himself has told us that there is no need for us to come," he added.

Amman K Arjunan questioned, "Is insulting legislators the Dravidian model? We have submitted our demands to the District Collector as a petition and the Collector said he will consider it. Moreover, police are providing security for sticking posters on Avinashi Road flyover but the police stop us if we go to put up posters. Is Coimbatore symbolising a Dravidian model of rule? There is no Government here, only party rule."

"We will act according to whatever decision our leadership takes regarding the Vellalore Bus Stand," he added.

Replying to a question on the Court verdict that the AIADMK General Council Meeting was valid, Amman K Arjunan said, "We have got a huge victory from the Court. We have informed Edappadi about this and have decided to stage a protest."
