Tirupur: The road from Velampalayam to Solipalayam in Tirupur has been in a state of utter disrepair owing to digging of pits, underground sewerage works, fourth water supply scheme works, etc.
Thousands of people, including students going to schools, motorists, labourers going to baniyan companies, small shopkeepers etc use this road on a daily basis. Accidents have occurred with the public slipping and motorists falling off their vehicles due to the pothole-ridden road.
CPM cadres condemned the lack of road maintenance and demanded that the roads be repaired immediately.
In support of this demand, CPM Velampalayam Town Secretary S Nandagopal staged a road blockade near Velampalayam 25 Corner, in which over 100 men and women participated.
