Coimbatore: Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan participated in the bhoomi puja for a modern Anganwadi centre being constructed in Gandhipuram 48th ward at an estimated cost of Rs. 15 lakh from the MLA's constituency development fund.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Vanathi Srinivasan said, "The Anganwadi centres are being given extra attention. I will submit 10 major demands to the District Collector based on the Chief Minister's instructions that all the legislators should submit 10 important demands in their constituency to the District Collector. It has also been decided to mention the areas that have been damaged due to the recent rains such as Lanka Corner and Avinashi Flyover."
Commenting on the Chief Minister M K Stalin not wishing the public on Ganesh Chaturthi, Vanathi Srinivasan said, "Though Stalin did not wish as the DMK party president, he should have greeted the people as the Chief Minister of the State. He does not extend greetings on Hindu festivals."
Responding to a question on BJP cadres joining the DMK party at a DMK event in Pollachi, Vanathi Srinivasan retorted, "Just as the opposition parties are joining the DMK, many people from the DMK are joining our party as well."
