Tirupur: There was commotion when two Hindu Front executives climbed a 70-ft advertising tower to protest against the removal of the flags of the Hindu Front from Avinashi Road in Tirupur district.

Vinayagar Chaturthi is being celebrated all across Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, amidst festive gaiety after a two-year gap during which the TN Government imposed a ban on placing Ganesha idols in public places to curb the spread of Covid-19.

This year, since there was no ban on worshipping idols in public places, various Hindu organizations including the Hindu Front, placed huge colourful Ganesha idols in various districts for people to offer their worship. Accordingly, Ganesha idols were placed in various parts of Tirupur district on behalf of the Hindu Front administrators. Similarly, Hindu Front Party flags were placed in many places including Pushpa Junction and Avinashi Road in Tirupur city.

The Hindu Front flags placed on Avinashi Road were removed on Tuesday night. When the flag was removed, leading Hindu leaders gathered at Pushpa Junction area of Tirupur. In protest against the removal of the flags of the Hindu Front organization and demanding that the flags be placed back in the same area, Selvaraj from Chamundipuram, the City President of the Hindu Front Auto Division and Manikandan from College Road, the Hindu Front's City Secretary climbed up a 70-ft. advertisement near Tirupur's Pushpa flyover.

The Police led by the Tirupur North Police Inspector, Udayakumar reached the spot after receiving information of the protest and engaged in negotiations with the protestors. Since the police assured the protesters that steps will be taken to put up the Hindu Front Party flags in the same area again, both executives climbed down from the tower.
