Coimbatore: Coimbatore's Kavundampalayam Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) PRG Arunkumar has submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector to reactivate the community weekly market which has been functioning for many years in Coimbatore's Chinnavedampatti area.
"More than a 100 small traders from various towns in the surrounding areas do their business at the Chinnavedampatti weekly market. In this situation, the Government revenue officials are putting pressure on the small traders not to operate the market without any formalities. As a result, the livelihood of farmers who depend on this market is greatly affected.
Therefore, the District Collector G S Sameeran had specified that documents should be secured for the weekly market to continue functioning without interruption," stated PRG Arunkumar's petition.
